Spiced Apple Margarita

Ingredients
- añejo tequila - 2 ozs.
- cinnamon tincture - 2 dashes
- fresh lime juice - 1 oz.
- fresh lemon juice - 1/2 oz.
- apple simple syrup - 1 oz.
- cayenne pepper - pinch (adjust to taste)
- ice - to taste
- apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon and cayenne - for garnish
- Ingredients for the Apple Simple Syrup:
- apple juice - 1 cup
- sugar - 1 cup
Instructions
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the Añejo tequila, cinnamon tincture, lime juice, lemon juice, apple simple syrup, and a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well-chilled.
- Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice. If you prefer, you can also serve it straight up in a chilled glass without ice.
- Garnish with apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon and cayenne for an extra festive touch.
Procedure for the Apple Simple Syrup:
- In a saucepan, combine apple juice and sugar over medium heat.
- Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Let it simmer for a few minutes, then remove from heat and cool.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Note from Patrice: Not only is this margarita cinnamon apple spiced, but the cayenne gives it a little heat that stands up great against the smooth Añejo tequila. This delightful combination will warm you up on cool fall nights, making it the perfect cocktail to enjoy as the leaves turn color and the air turns crisp.
